ROSELLA'S
PARROT ESCAPE
Seven parrots are flying free in Bletchley, after escaping last Thursday.
The roof of their aviary in Duncombe Street was ripped off by gale force winds,
allowing ten parrots to fly out.
Two of the birds were recaptured quickly, but the others fled to trees in
Sainsbury’s car park, hotly pursued by owner Darren Pearson, a team
of helpers and a crowd of onlookers. One more was netted by builder David
Cattigan, who stopped work to climb a tree and catch it.
Three red and blue Pennant parrots and four yellow and green Rosellas are still at large. In their Australian homeland the birds are often found in city parks and gardens so may thrive in the Bletchley/ Milton Keynes conurbation.
