Crocodile spotted
in village pond
A young mum revealed how she came face to face with a crocodile in of all
places a village duck pond, in Saint Blazey, Cornwall near the Eden Project
attraction!
Stacey Clayton had taken her Daughter Alanna to feed the ducks, at the pond when she thought she saw a log floating in the water, but something wasn’t quite right.
Stacey is quoted as saying “then I realised it had eyes, I thought to myself logs don’t blink!” She then threw a stone at the animals, this caused it to lift its head “it looked straight at me, I saw its tail and about a dozen teeth coming down from its jaw” Stacey left the scene straight away returning to her home, once there she phoned the RSPCA.
It is believed the reptile is a Caiman, a small relative of the crocodile, Caimans’ are sometimes kept as pets and officials believe this maybe an escapee, or been turned loose having proved too difficult or costly to keep. This isn’t the first time something suspicious has been seen at the pond though another local once saw a moorhen being dragged below the surface by a predator.
